We aim to facilitate the transfer of information and specialist knowledge between the British, Portuguese and international scientific communities, with the help of formal ties of cooperation between the Council and the Portuguese Ministries of Science and Technology, Education and Environment.

We administer three main specialised programmes, aimed for the most part at the sciences.

     
 

The Treaty of Windsor Programme

The British Council/GRICES Protocol

 

This is a bilateral exchange programme between the United Kingdom and Portugal which seeks to help departments (or individuals attached to departments) develop joint research or curriculum development projects.

This is a bilateral exchange programme which supports travel and subsistence costs incurred in short individual visits between British and Portuguese institutions. The Programme is currently closed but will re-open in January 2004.

Scholarships and international networking programmes

This is a bilateral exchange programme in which the two institutions promote the development of activities of mutual interest on environmental matters.

The British Council also administers other scholarship programmes which may also benefit the scientific community .
INE is the British Council's principal agency for conferences and seminars.
