The Journal - formerly known as The Newsletter - has been published by the British Council in Portugal for over 20 years. It was launched in December 1979 and was from the very start a joint venture with the Direcções Gerais do Ensino Básico e Ensino Secundário. It has also spawned a book: At the Chalkface (Edward Arnold, 1985).

Over the next few months we will try and publish as many copies as possible. We regret we cannot publish all the articles here as many are dependent on graphics that cannot be seen over the web. Where this is the case we will try later to provide pdf versions.

If case of any queries, please contact Julie Tice.
