Who can enter?
We invite entries from teachers of English with their classes - students
from state schools, who have been learning English for at least one
year (children between 7 and 12 years old).
Competition
Classes will design English language picture books for Young Learners.
Each child in the class will prepare (draw) a particular page of the
book. The book should consist of at least ten pages but no more than
the number of students in the class.
The picture book will consist of:
- a cover page with the title: LOOK! I CAN DO IT! - YOUNG LEARNERS
- contents of the book with the titles of each page and the names
of the authors
- pages on particular topics such as the following:
|
|
|

a garden |

my family |

| |

|
The appearance of the page will depend on the child's imagination and
ingenuity. Objects, which are on the page, should be named (a cat, a flower,
a train, a nurse, etc
) All pages should be given titles (Animals,
Jobs, My Family, etc
)
The competition is a collective task designed for the whole class and
their teacher. The teacher will co-ordinate the collective project and
manage the work of the children. Teachers should not interfere in their
students' individual works, however they ought to explain to the class
the rules of the competition and help them with language matters.
When all pages are ready, the teacher will put them together in the form
of a book and send it to Examinations Services at the British Council,
Lisbon. |
